Planner Post: How to have a FUN Wedding
Planner Post: How to have a Fun Wedding Over and over I hear in consultations “I just want to have a fun wedding.” But really…
Over and over I hear in consultations “I just want to have a fun wedding.” But really what does having a fun wedding mean? Have you ever been to a wedding where people don’t touch the dance floor? The food wasn’t served on time and you are starved? The groomsman idea of a good time is lighting off fireworks in an old historic venue and then the cops are called. Yes…I have experienced all of these. Below are some foolproof tips on how to keep your guest happy, safe and having a good time.
1. Make sure dinner is served on time.
When guests have been drinking or have been sitting through an long ceremony in a non air condition church the only thing on there mind is FOOD. Make sure your guest are aware that after they traveled all this way to be with you that you are going to feed them. No one likes being hungry.
2. What is your definition of fun?
Is it being the last one on the dance floor sweating all your makeup off? Or is it playing corn hole and field games? Do whatever makes you happy. As for music…guests always love the energy of a live band but DJ’s are great to! Just remember you can not please everyone. Your definition of fun is not the same as your 70-year-old grandma.

3. Have an interactive style.
Your wedding does not have to be all about the flowers and linens. If you and your sweetheart love baseball..have themed tables with different ball parks. If you spent a lot of time at the beach have a candy bar with salt-water taffy, Fischer’s popcorn and fractured prune doughnuts.

3. Dare to be different.
Are you big fan of country? Hire line-dancing instructors. Have you always wanted to have a themed wedding? Do it. Your wedding is about YOU and what you want. Whether that is having everyone dress up in 50s attire or you come riding in on Elephants, sweet 16 style.

10. Snack time
Long after dinner’s over, and the bar is still open.. it is probably time to serve up some snacks. Offer some salty things to go with your desserts; like soft pretzels, popcorn or your favorite trail mix. I have seen brides that have food trucks, ice cream trucks and late night quesadillas being made that guests just rave over.

5. Making an exit.
Is the wedding so good that your guest don’t want to leave? Make sure you do have an exit. Whether it is with sparklers, balloons, confetti or rice. Guest need to know when the bar is closed and its time to go home. Please make sure your guests have appropriate transportation home. Have your planner have cabs, Ubers, busses etc. ready so that when you make that exit so can your guests.
